Landscaping Ideas

As a real estate agent, we often get asked about ideas on how to make the backyard or front yard more appealing and beneficial. We always recommend some type of drought-tolerant landscaping with fruit trees or colorful California native plants as grass does not provide much and the cost of watering is very costly. With mulch, lots of bright-colored plants, fruit trees, and a drip irrigation system would turn any yard into a very attractive water-conserving

Some great places to shop for plants and trees are home depot, local nursery, and Costco. The photos below were taken at the Hayward Costco by Eden Shores. Succulents and Perennials are great hearty plants to cover area.

Union City also gives out free compost for residents to pick up. Compost provides lots of nutrients and helps improve plant health and growth. Compost also helps improve water retention in the soil and acts like a natural fertilizer. Synthetic fertilizer can be harmful to the atmosphere as it can cause dangerous emissions.

The Union City website also provides great resources on gardening. This is a great way to network with other people who have the same passion in gardening.
